The Florida Attorney General's office announced that it had come to a settlement with Ms. Cleo, the Jamaican shaman and Psychic Hotline host. That settlement was that her business would refund some $300 million that was swindled out of callers. Of that sum, Ms. Cleo's hotline business had actually captured, by hook or crook, over a billion dollars in the short time she was on TV. This was done by billing callers to her hotline by the minute--five dollars a minute. The callers were unaware of that rate. This money will billed to the telephone number the caller used. It is remarkable that she could bilk so many people out of so much, so soon, and so simply. Ms. Cleo was not Jamaican at all. She was born in the USA, yet she claimed to be a Jamaican Shaman--witch doctor. Oh what webs we weave, when we lie in wait to deceive! Ms Cleo was one of our self appointed leaders. She was not called of God or man; she was not educated even with a witch doctor's pseudo-education. Apparently, Americans have too much money for their own good; they are taking on witches and goblins and all types of foolishness because they can afford it. It is reported that Haki Madhubuti was told that a certain man had lots of money, as if the very possession of it was the end product, and he asked: "What is he doing with all that money?" Ms.
Cleo is off the TV and not taking the millions she was getting, but
what now are Americans doing with all that money they have? There are
people who have real needs in life that one can meet. In so doing, one
can experience a type of euphoria of giving with no expectation of getting
a return for your altruism. This is a very real sensation that goes
beyond the intellectual. It is a euphoria too few people experience.
But now that the great state of Florida has freed some of your money,
why not experience the high of giving to the needy. After all, it's
Christmas time!
